Unknown to many,
several people's organization members have been benefiting by implementing
livelihood and agroforestry projects under the Community-Based Forest
Management (CBFM) program in the Bicol region.
In support to the Hunger Mitigation and Alleviation program of the present administration, the Agrarian Reform Fund (ARF) under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources has provided since 2007 financial assistance to strengthen the CBFM program in the region. The projects under CBFM are carried out to improve the productivity of upland communities through generation of additional income and to promote food security.......more... |

LEGAZPI CITY -
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is appealing anew
for people support in the protection and preservation of geodetic control
points (GCPs) or mojons established in different places in the Bicol region
under the Philippine Reference System of 1992 (PRS92).

Catanduanes personnel point to one of recovered mojons in Barangay San
Roque, Bato town which were later "adopted" by the said Barangay
through a memorandum of agreement signed by its Barangay Captain

Some 1,811 forest land dwellers,
farmers and fisherfolks in five Bicol provinces benefited from the DENR
Upland Development Program (UDP) in CY 2009. In photos are UDP beneficiaries
engaged in nursery establishment and seedling production activities.
UDP was a DENR initiative to create immediate additional income for
upland households and fisherfolks in support to President Arroyo's Hunger
Mitigation Program.(ASA)
